Rotate PDF Pages Online Free
Fix sideways or upside-down scans: rotate a single page, a selection, or every odd or even page at once.
Click a page to turn it
This PDF rotator shows every page as a thumbnail. Hover over one and use its arrows to turn it 90 degrees either way, or just click it to turn it clockwise. All left and All right turn every page at once, and the Odd pages and Even pages arrows turn every other page. When they all read the right way up, click Save rotated PDF and download. The PDF is changed in your browser and is not uploaded.
What rotating actually changes
Every PDF page carries a number that tells a viewer which way up to show it: 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees. Rotating a page changes that number and nothing else. The text, images and drawings on the page are not redrawn, so nothing loses sharpness, text stays searchable, and the file comes out the size it went in. A 90-degree turn is also how you change a page from landscape to portrait, or back: the page orientation changes, and the content turns with it.
Everything around the pages stays too. We rotated one page of a test report and compared the result with what this tool produced until 27 September, when it rebuilt the document instead of turning the page:
| Part of the report | After rotating now | Before 27 September |
|---|---|---|
| File size | 57 KB, as before | 289 KB |
| Twelve bookmarks | Kept | Lost |
| Links between sections | Kept | Lost |
| Accessibility tags | Kept | Lost |
| Page labels | Kept | Lost |
| Attached spreadsheet | Kept | Lost |
| Filled-in form | Kept, still fillable | No longer fillable |
How that was found and fixed is in what survives each PDF tool.
Tip
Every other page upside down?
A double-sided scan often comes out with every even page flipped, because the paper went through the scanner the other way up. Click the Even pages (2,4) arrow twice: each click turns all the even pages 90 degrees, so two clicks flip them back the right way up, however many pages there are. If the odd pages are the ones that are wrong, use Odd pages (1,3) instead.
If it prints sideways
Because rotation is stored as an instruction rather than by redrawing the page, a rotated portrait page is still, underneath, a portrait-sized page with "turn 90 degrees" attached. Current PDF viewers and printer drivers follow the instruction. If an old printer or a document-management system ignores it and prints the content on its side, fix it at the printing end. Print from a current viewer, or in Adobe Acrobat Reader use Print, then Advanced, then "Print As Image". That sends each page exactly as it appears on screen.

Frequently asked questions
How do I rotate just a single page?
Hover over it and click the anticlockwise or clockwise arrow; clicking the page itself turns it clockwise. Each turn is 90 degrees, and the other pages are not touched.
My scanner flipped every other page. Can I fix this quickly?
Yes. Use the Even pages (2,4) or Odd pages (1,3) arrows. Each click turns that whole set 90 degrees, so two clicks turn every flipped page right way up.
What happens if I accidentally rotate the wrong page?
Press Ctrl+Z, or the Undo button, to step back; Ctrl+Y redoes. Nothing is saved until you click Save rotated PDF, so you can also keep clicking the page until it is the right way up.
Does rotating lower the quality of my document?
No. Rotating only changes the setting that tells a viewer which way up to show the page. Nothing on the page is redrawn, so text stays sharp and searchable and images are not recompressed.
Will rotating keep my bookmarks and form fields?
Yes. Pages are turned inside your document rather than copied into a new one, so bookmarks, links between pages, accessibility tags, attachments and fillable form fields all stay, and the file stays the same size. We checked this for every tool on the site in what survives each PDF tool.
